There once was a speedy Hare

who bragged about how fast he could run.

从前有一只兔子它吹牛说它能跑得很快。

Tired of hearing him boast,

the Tortoise challenged him to a race.

厌倦了听他吹牛的乌龟

向兔子发起了一场挑战比赛。

All the animals in the forest gathered to watch.

森林里所有的动物都聚在一起观看这场比赛。

The Hare ran down the road for a while

and then and paused to rest.

兔子跑了一会儿，然后停在路上休息。

He looked back at the tortoise and cried out,

他回头看了看乌龟，喊道：

"How do you expect to win this race

when you are walking along at your slow, slow pace?"

“以你如此之慢的步速行走，

你还妄想赢得这场比赛吗？”

The Hare stretched himself out alongside the road and fell asleep,

兔子伸了伸懒腰躺在公路上睡着了，

thinking, "There is plenty of time to relax."

它想：“我有足够的时间来放松休息。”

The Tortoise walked and walked;

乌龟走啊走；

never ever stopping until he came to the finish line.

一刻都没有停歇直到他来到终点线。

The animals who were watching cheered so loudly for Tortoise,

那些正在观看比赛的动物们大声地为乌龟加油，

that they woke up Hare.

他们把正在睡觉的兔子吵醒了。

The Hare stretched and yawned and began to run again,

兔子伸了个懒腰打了个哈欠，开始跑起来，

but it was too late.

但是太晚了。

Tortoise was already over the line.

乌龟已经越过了终点线。
